Pick up the change
Round 19: College (Autumn 2009)
Eliot Novak is 23, Max Nihill is 22, Zaria Royce is 21 and Wade Gottlieb is 19.

Away from their parents for the first time in their lives, Max and Zaria are making the most of their new-found freedom. The hot tub is better than Zaria's parents' bed, anyway.

Wooden nickels
Along with playing the Carmody family yesterday, I took Betsy down to the high school to get all the new students enrolled. Not as crazy as the primary school was in Round 18 but these kids kind of had minds of their own, in a way I have not quite witnessed before in a school update. The way it played out really didn't lend itself to anything close to story telling, so this will be more commentary-like than usual.
All the new students, bar one, are pictured here. Cordy and Luc are 16, while Rose and Joanna are both 14.

So Jesse finally got off his ass and decided to go out on his own. Well, he's not really on his own. Two of my former students, Evan and Amelia, decided to move out of their parents' place but didn't have enough money for the deposit on the apartment. That's where Jesse came in. And yeah, he really did get in the taxi in his pyjamas.

Taking a break soon
From 13th July until 5th August, there will be no updates for Sullivan. My sister and I are taking a holiday around the US and I won't be able to take my Sims with me.
I'm going to try to get at least a couple more updates in before I leave (I've finished work already, so I have the time) and am already looking forward to getting back to blogging when I return!

Round 18 Summary
FYI, I will still be doing these round summaries when I switch to the new system but I'm not sure yet if I'll do them every round or every couple of rounds. Seeing I'm only aging everyone 2 years, I'm assuming not as much will change but I'll have to play a bit and see how it works out.
Onto the summary...
Births: 5 (Sarah Carmody, Adrienne Novak, Ethan Novak, Calvin and Troy Clarke)
Deaths: 4 (Raffaella Novak, Elias Draper, Samson Clarke, Petra Gottlieb)
Engagements: 2 (Owen Nihill and Naomi Novak, Jonas Lachance and Tatiana Moretti)
Marriages: 1 (Emil and Anna Collins)
Break-ups: 0
Graduations: 4 (Tatiana Moretti, David Moretti, Kirstin Sitko, Abigail Lachance)
New residents: Jesse Carmody
Total population: 81 (35 male, 46 female)
Babies: 0
Toddlers: 3
Children: 14
Teens: 4
Adults (including Young Adults): 45
Elders: 13
Did it feel like there were way more deaths than four? It did to me but maybe that was just because most were clustered at the end of the round like that. It's been ages since I've only had one wedding too!
It looks my population growth is steadying - Sullivan only grew by one Sim this round! I'm sure I'll fix that next round. ;)

Changes to Sullivan's calendar
As I mentioned in my last post, Round 19 in Sullivan will mark the debut of the new calendar system. It is based largely on the system used over at Lakeside Heights and at Riverdale but I've modified it a tiny bit to suit my own purposes.
One "round" will now be 2 years Sim-time (Rounds 1-18 were 5 years Sim-time), so Sims will now age 2 years each round. I will be tracking my hood by seasons, rather than by months. I've got my order of play all mapped out and as I have fewer than 24 households, it made more sense to me to track it by seasons.

Baby goes to eleven
Round 18: University
(Tatiana, David, Kirstin, Abigail, Caleb)
Last update: Tatiana, David and Kirstin/Caleb and Abigail
David, Kirstin and Abigail have just started their junior year and are still living at Moretti Hall. Tatiana is somewhat bored and lonely, being separated from Jonas once again.
David and Tatiana are both working hard to graduate. There are more term papers and assignments and a lot more preparation to do before them.

Dawning of a new era
Round 18: Days 86-90
Narrated by Athena Gottlieb
Petra recently made the decision to retire. Politics was sort of something she just fell into and she'd never planned to stay as long as she did. She told Adam she wanted to have some down time while she still had her health.

Effington
Narrated by Ottilie Draper
Dad has been continuing to train Lake to take over his pottery store. Lake has been working really hard, because any day he's not at work, he's down at the store.
