You say it's your birthday, August 2031

Narrated by Amelia Gottlieb

Since I entered my third trimester, my pregnancy hasn't been going as well as I'd hoped. I hadn't had much nausea at all until now but it's been every day lately.

I've been very tired as well, sometimes even falling asleep while still sitting up, but that's to be expected.

The most worrying thing has been my pre-term contractions. That's not anything I want to mess around with, so I headed to the doctor right away.

Cara was concerned and was glad I came in. As a mother over 35, I'm at greater risk for complications like this but we had been lucky so far.

Cara prescribed me something to help stop the contractions and sent me home.

Cara also put me on bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy, so I have the whole family waiting on me hand and foot. Wade hasn't been able to take much time off work but he makes sure I have plenty of things to occupy myself for the day before he leaves.

I think I've read every book in the house now.

The contractions seem to have stopped now, which I'm so grateful for. I'm going to follow the doctor's orders to the letter until this baby arrives; after that scare, I don't want to take any chances.

Notes:
  • Thanks to Inteen, Amelia really did experience pre-term contractions. I thought she was going to lose this baby and was very relieved when I got the pop-up about contractions. It was a very close call. Thankfully, Baby Gottlieb is still due to join us in October!

  1. What an interesting way to do you pregnancy/birth update. I like the mini-update. I'm scared of Inteen for that very reason...I suppose I should look into it, but still...scary stuff. I love what every book default you have...at first I thought it was the FT read drama book, but it looks like an art book.

  2. Ugh, poor woman. With all five of my pregnancies/babies, I was sick 24/7 the whole 9 months. I'm still trying to figure out how I gained weight and why I need to lose it now. lol

Glad that she and the baby are alright. You know, I haven't had an Inteen scare in a looooong time. Can't wait until the baby comes!

  3. Apple Valley, thanks! It was a while ago but I also did Camilla's birth update like this. I'm planning on doing them this way when I only have one family to update on. I like it better but haven't yet figured out a way to do it like this for multiple families.

Inteen can be a little scary for this reason - you really need to watch your pregnant Sims. But it does inject some drama.

Yeah, those default replacement books are pretty cool! I got them from here and I swap them around pretty frequently.

    Thanks for reading!

Riverdale, ugh, I don't envy you (or Amelia!) Usually Sims are lucky and their morning sickness is gone after the first trimester but I've had two Sims so far that had nausea all the way through: Amelia, and Asha before her.

I actually can't remember the last time I had an Inteen scare! Before Amelia, anyway. The last miscarriage I had was Cara, before Anthony and Veronica were born. So I guess that was about 15 or 16 Sim years.

    Thanks for reading!

  4. I was scared that Amelia would loose the baby but I'm glad she didn't!

I didn't know inteen had that option, do you need to do something special for it, or is it standard?

I like that you let Amelia tell the story, it was a different way to tell it.

Btw, thank you for your reply on my question some posts ago, it had (yet again) given me something to think about :)

  5. I'm glad she didn't lose her baby, that would have been such a tragedy! Morning sickness, swollen ankles, sensitivity to smells; all reasons why I currently have no children :)

  6. Whew! I recognized those animations and was afraid that it was going to be a baby loss! So relieved that it isn't! That would have been so devastating for Amelia.

She's so cute with her big baby bump in her bed.

For future reference, in case you don't want a baby to die. As soon as the animations start, pause the game, and use whatever method you prefer (insim for me) to max their motives. Then it will just be a close call. I kept forgetting about Hazel on a lot where I was doing photos and she almost lost Monroe a time or two.

  7. Tanja, I was scared too but luckily, Baby Gottlieb is still with us.

I think the pre-term contractions/miscarriage can happen spontaneously but generally, it's if your Sim's hunger or energy get too low. That's what I meant when I said you need to take care of the Sim. It's kind of like playing sick Sims with Realistic Sickness installed - with that, you need to keep up their comfort.

I'm glad you enjoyed this format. Seeing the next couple of birthday updates will be focused on one family, I'll try it again soon.

    Thanks for reading. :)

Mizzgin03, LOL, I know, right? Pregnancy doesn't sound very fun at all! Amelia is actually the type of woman who really enjoyed being pregnant but this time has been hard on her, which makes sense, given her age.

But yes - very glad she didn't lose the baby!

    Thanks for reading!

Maisie, imagine how worried I was when I heard that wailing! It felt like forever waiting for that pop-up to see if it was contractions or a miscarriage. Of all the Sims I wouldn't want to miscarry, Amelia would be at the top of the list.

Amelia's got a crazy big bump, because she's a "fat" Sim. I think it's adorable though. This is her fourth, so it seems fitting that she'd be a lot bigger this time around.

You know, the funny thing about that was when I checked Amelia's motives when she started moaning, they were pretty okay. Close to full hunger, about halfway down for energy. That's what made me think there might be an element of randomness to it as well. But I will keep your tip in mind, because it certainly can't hurt to try it next time.

    Thanks for reading!

  8. Whew that was a close call! So glad that she didn't lose the baby. I would have been so heartbroken for her if she lost the baby. We all know how badly she wants this last child.

I also like how you wrote this one out. Especially with the added drama, it wouldn't have been the same told any other way. She better get lots of rest can't wait to see the little one soon! Ditto to how cute she is with her baby bump. I have a friend who said she loved being pregnant. Hubby and I are talking about a child and I'm still really nervous about how my body will handle it.

  9. Danielle, I think I honestly might have cried while writing this, had she lost the baby and I actually haven't ever cried while writing before. But none of my Sims have ever wanted a baby as badly as Amelia wants this one and it would be heartbreaking!

Amelia is resting up until I go in and let her have her baby later today. ;) I have to play Caleb and his family and then it's time for Baby Gottlieb. So you guys will meet him or her within the next few days.

    Thanks for reading!

  10. Oh how scary! That would have to be especially terrifying for her. I can't wait to meet Baby Gottlieb! :)

  11. I like the update a lot :)

Wow, that was scary! I'm glad she didn't lose the baby, that would've been really devastating.

  12. Rachel, Inteen isn't good for my heart sometimes, lol! But thankfully, everything was okay this time.

    Thanks for reading!

Sari, I'm glad! Baby Gottlieb is now safe and well (on the floor of Amelia and Wade's bedroom, because I've been too lazy to decorate a nursery!)

    Thanks for reading!

  13. I had no idea that could happen. It's due to Inteen? It's pretty realistic! As long as Baby G is safe and well, that's the main thing.

I love the detail you use with book covers. And with everything else including the box of what looks like disposable gloves in the doctor's office.

  14. S.B., yes, it's a feature of InTeen. You can install a "flavour pack" to remove the option but I like the realism.

Thanks - I like it when people notice the details. ;) And yes, that's a box of gloves in Cara's office.

    Thanks for reading. :)
