All my friends

Round 14: Days 66-70

Narrated by Caterina Nihill

I can't believe I've lived in Exeter for 5 years already and have only just discovered the gym. And I call myself a fitness Sim!

Anyway, the gym is great and I've even found a way to make a bit of extra cash while I'm there. I've been working as a personal trainer. Here, I'm offering some tips to Jace, while he weeps at how much better I am at the treadmill than he is.

Much better. I'm pretty good at this. Maybe I'll buy it someday.

Ben and I decided to throw away my birth control one night. On a whim, I have to admit. And shock of shocks, I actually got pregnant the first time we tried.

I've been feeling pretty well, though I'm tired all the time (tai chi is helping me keep my energy up) and I get hungry faster than I can make food. I've had no nausea at all though. I wonder if it's true that extremely fit women get less morning sickness or if I'm just lucky.

I'm only just barely showing but Ben still rubs my belly every night, waiting to feel the baby kicking.

All that cooking doesn't seem to be improving my skills much. I was so embarrassed to have to serve burnt grilled cheese to Debbie when she dropped by for lunch.

Mum also visits quite often. She's done this pregnancy thing three times before - twice with her own kids and once with my sister. So she's been a good source of information.

My aunty is never very far behind Mum, so they often arrived together.

In my last trimester, I was so tired that I often had to go to bed while my mother and aunt were still there, leaving Ben to entertain them.

It's no wonder I was so tired. Our sleep is constantly interrupted.

I never bought into that whole nesting instinct but I think mine is really kicking in. I've been making sure everything is neat and tidy and the baby's nursery is completely ready. As ready as we can afford anyway. We don't have the money to make it exactly as I'd like.

I can't even remember what I was going to the second floor for but that didn't seem important when I went into labour right at the top of the staircase. Ben was still asleep (it was very early in the morning) so the only one around was our landlord.

We managed to get through it though and I was soon holding little Max in my arms.

I refused to go back to bed until Ben promised he'd get up in case Max cried. Ben had a feeling Max would be okay sleeping for at least a few hours but he was sweet enough to humour me and let me get some sleep.

He even stayed home with him most days while I went to work. Max really kept Ben on his toes. Ben didn't even get dressed until it was well past lunchtime.

I took over when I came home and I think I still have a bit to learn. Like, don't hold the baby up over your face when he's got a full belly.

Max is one year old now. Hopefully, he's a little less prone to queasiness now!

Notes:
  • Jace, in case you've forgotten, is Magdalena's boyfriend. I don't actually know why he was weeping. Maybe it was exactly as I guessed.
  • On the last few lots Simona has visited, Raffaella has followed a couple of hours later. It's not something I've ever observed before with my other Sims but I think it's very cute.

  4. Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I love it when my relatives visit each other. I can't resist letting them in when they drop by. ;)

  5. I love it when family invites itself over. Well, close family, at least. BS has a tendency to have like, distant cousins dropping in. Sigh. ;)

I really like seeing your apartments, too!

  6. Thanks, Mao.

I don't think I have enough generations yet to have distant cousins. I'm sure that'll start happening to me too if I get that far with Sullivan.
