Lot tour: Okapi Studios

So here is the first lot of Okapi Studios (so named just because I think the okapi is a rather adorable animal). So far, it's looking like it might be just the two lots in total but maybe there'll be three. We'll see.

I'm not completely happy with this lot yet but I'm calling it done for now. The parts that I really need for story shots and not just for game play are parts I'm really happy with, so it's good enough for the mean time.

This is a little different from my usual lot tours, as this is the kind of lot which looks better with Sims on it. So there are some gameplay shots as well.

The actual set part of the studio. I just had to use that subway car set piece somewhere and I was so excited to finally be able to! I don't ever remember downloading it and haven't been able to find it since, so I was happy to find a use for it. There will be different kinds of sets in my second lot but I'll have to improvise with them a bit more.

I don't know where my exterior shot of the other trailer got to but you can kind of see it in the first pic anyway and it's not all that interesting. This trailer is the hair and make-up room.

You've already seen this room, of course.

I shot a scene there in Adrienne and Malcolm's update this round, with Matilda (one of my two movie stars).

Matilda naturally spends a lot of time at the studios.

And the make-up artists are not always so capable! By the way, WTF is with this, lol? When I was on this lot for Adrienne's update, I had to get Matilda to sit in the chair three times before the cosmetologist didn't screw it up! And this is a randomly generated stylist, not some townie I hired. I would have thought the random ones would have gold badges? Anyway...back to the tour!

This is what's inside the other trailer. It was kind of experimental.

It was a failure. I was hoping the chef wouldn't be on the lot unless I had the podium too and that Sims would be able to use that stove to cook. I'm not positive what I want to do with this room now.

Fortunately, Sims can still eat outside from the buffet table.

Although Matilda was not particularly impressed by the offerings of grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, cake, soft drink and beer! I guess she has more expensive tastes now that she's a Leading Lady. ;)

I thought I'd be annoyed by the random Sims wandering around but I'm actually kind of amused by it. This guy kind of missed the mark in his worship. There's an actual actress wandering around the lot but he was more interested in Abigail, a journalist. And Calvin just looks like he wants to kill the guy, for some reason!

  1. Ooh this looks great!! Love the set up and okapis are way cute! Was my eldest's favorite animal before horse craze took over. Ilione the buffet and make up trailer. It all looks awesome, not to mention the subway.

  3. Ooh Carla, as usual this just looks great!! I can't wait to see more of it in action!!
I like the sound of the name as well, Okapi Studio's :) it sounds really well :)

About the second trailer, I think I would create a kitchen like in the dorms, where a cook comes to prepare the meals, maybe you could do that ...

  4. Maisie, glad you like it! The subway car is pretty amazing.

Okapis are related to giraffes, which I also love. I think they're too cute!

    Thanks for looking!

Apple Valley, glad you enjoyed it!

    Thanks for looking!

Tanja, glad you like the name. I don't like it as much as I did when I picked it but I'm sticking with it anyway, lol!

I considered the cafeteria worker in the second trailer but I think I've mostly decided against it now. I will probably scrap it completely and turn it into a wardrobe trailer. They have a place to eat outside anyway, so I'm not too fussed about losing the kitchen. It never looked right to me and I'm kind of excited about doing a wardrobe department.

    Thanks for looking!

  5. I was going to suggest the cafeteria worker as well. I really love the lot, your tours always make me want to be a better simmer.....then laziness kicks in and I change my mind :).

  9. I already mentioned how I love the studio and I liked seeing the rest of it. Looking forward to seeing Matilda acting out her next film there. And I really hate the generated hair stylist. They are terrible.

    Okapis are pretty adorable!

  10. Danielle, yeah, I'm still deciding how I'm going to stage filming here. I'm planning on trying it out for Patience and/or Matilda's updates though.

    Thanks for looking!
