I've been sick and not feeling much like playing over the weekend, so I'm putting this up in lieu of the Lane post! Hopefully, you'll enjoy some nerdery in its place. ;)
Any Sim who meets the criteria set out by EA can earn these scholarships but they may need to meet some extra criteria to get the extra perks in the expanded system.
Here, I'm only including the scholarships I've come up with my own ideas for or the one where I've adjusted Starr's. If a scholarship isn't listed here, it means I'm either following the Apple Valley system to the letter with that one or that the scholarship has no extra perks attached to it. Clear as mud? Let's go!
Bain-Gordon Communication Fellowship (earned with 8 Charisma points)
Expansion: Student pays only half-tuition if they intend to major in Journalism.
Kim Metro Prize For Hygienics (earned with 8 Cleaning points)
Expansion: Student pays only half-tuition for undergraduate studies if they intend to major in a pre-med related major.
London Culinary Arts Grant (earned with 8 Cooking points)
Expansion: Student pays only half-tuition for undergraduate studies if they intend to major in Culinary Arts.
Will Wright Genius Grant (earned with 8 Logic points)
Expansion: Student will receive a laptop. Student pays only half-tuition for undergraduate studies if they intend to major in Education.
Bui Engineering Award (earned with 8 Mechanical points)
Expansion: Student will receive a laptop. Student pays only half-tuition for undergraduate studies if they intend to major in Architecture.
Quigley Visual Arts Grant (earned with 8 Creativity points)
Expansion: Student pays only half-tuition for undergraduate studies if they intend to major in a fine arts related major.
Emma Gottlieb earned this one and because she's a Ceramics major, she (or her parents) will pay half-tuition.
Young Entrepreneur's Award (earned when Sim reaches the top of a teen career)
Expansion: Student will receive a laptop. Student pays only half-tuition for undergraduate studies if they intend to major in a business-related major.
SimCity Scholar's Grant (earned when Sim gets a grade of A- or above)
Expansion: Student will receive a laptop. With an SAS score (see here for information on calculation the SAS) of 70 or above, consistent As all throughout high school and an A+ at high school graduation, student pays no tuition.
Tsang Footwork Award (earned with 8 Dance points, which is a hidden skill)
Expansion: Sim pays only half-tuition if they intend to major in Dance.
Orphaned Sims Assistance Fund (earned when Sim has no living parent)
Expansion: Sims pays no tuition.
I've also finally figured out exactly what will be required to earn my Governor's Grant.
Governor’s Grant
Will be awarded to one financially disadvantaged student per year, who has the highest SAS score of all candidates. Provides full tuition, plus a laptop. If GPA of 3.8 is achieved, student may continue to receive full tuition for post-graduate studies, if they so desire.
In 2038, the first year it has been in place, the Governor's Grant went to Justin Moretti. The cost of the laptop and the tuition come out of the hood treasury. It's going to be a huge load off for Justin's parents, and for the parents of any future recipients.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them in Comments. Thanks again to Starr for coming up with the idea of expanding the scholarships - I'm looking forward to playing around with them some more. :)
I adore your medical scholarship, I am going to use that in my game and maybe for graduate studies.
ReplyDeleteHeh, I remember you liked that one. I hope it works out well for you.

As you know I'm a huge fan of nerdery so I love this! It's pretty much identical to what I have in my list for those scholarships that weren't discussed at N99. So I'm just going to link to here and Apple Valley and don't bother writing my own post about this at all. Which suits my lazy-to-the-bone nature very well, lol.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I'm glad I'm in good company then! And yes, absolutely no reason for you to write your own post if you're using a combination of Starr's system and my expansion of it. Just keep being lazy - I can support that! ;)

Yours and Starr's systems are great and I think I will adapt them, if not for the 2013 school year, then definitely the 2014. I'll probably combine both of yours into one document since I'm slow and like everything in one place but I'll definitely link back to both of your blogs :). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure, whatever's easiest! Glad this looks like it could be of use to you.
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting!
Wow this is great its a great way to use those scholarships too
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it!

I just realized that I hadn't commented on this post yet!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds interesting, but it's a bit hard for me to say anything about it, since my game is in Dutch, and everything has different names in my game.
You always work things out so detailed, I'm jealous of that talent :)
Ah, I didn't think of that. I'm going to add what's required to gain each of these scholarships, which will hopefully make it more clear to those of you who play the game in a language other than English. :) Thanks for pointing that out!
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting!
Oh, I didn't mean it as a complaint or anything!
DeleteBut thank you so much for adding that information, now it's much clearer to me!
No, I knew you didn't mean to complain. I like to make things as clear as possible though, so I was happy to add the extra info. :)
DeleteThis makes me excited to play my university sims, I want to use the SAS, and add to the scholarships as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get around to your uni Sims (or your teens, really, because this is more relevant before uni than during), I'd love to hear how it works out for you. :)
