Lot tour: Vestiti

So I wasn't planning to get this lot finished (or even started) so quickly! Once I realised I definitely wanted to combine Naomi's shop with the fashion career lot and that I was playing Olivia next anyway, I figured I might as well get it done now! The poor woman has never had a work place in my game, lol.

And here it is! Naomi still owns it and will run it as a shop but the upper two levels will be used for anyone in the fashion design career.

The first floor is the actual shop part.

The second has a runway. The original EA lot (H&M Sim City) had this runway already there, so I just kept it.

The third floor is totally my design (added the third storey especially for it) and contains office and design areas. Don't mind that empty room - because of the curtains below being on platforms, they stick up through the ceiling, so that room just hides them! It also gave me a less boxy layout to work with.

The shop. I used an old Sims Connection set in the first incarnation of Vestiti in Sullivan 1.0 but decided to just use the H&M stuff this time. The clothing rack in that old set was screwed up anyway. Sims browse from the wrong side and it looks super-weird - I was always having to shoot around it!

The lounge area is a little nod to a clothing store here in Sydney. They have (or had, I haven't been in there in a while) couches outside the changing rooms and they are almost always occupied by exhausted boyfriends and husbands who have been dragged out on shopping expeditions. It always makes me giggle a bit!

I didn't take many pics of the runway area, as there's not much to it. EA had, if I remember correctly, a barbeque in place of the bar, because that makes lots of sense. So I put a bar in - it seems like something you might have at a fashion show. They probably don't have barbeques though.

And now the office area! This is a little dark right now - I may need to add some more windows.

Reception/waiting area.

Areas for the designers to work.

And the boss's office!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

  1. Ooh, a lot tour (so happy!).
EA’s idea of what to put there is just ridiculous a lot of the time…who barbeques at a fashion show! Your bar is a huge improvement. And it is really weird, I know I’ve placed that H&M in my ‘hood, but I must have never actually opened it because I did not realize it had a fashion runway, and I don’t think I’ve ever used that item in a lot, either. But I don’t think I’ve had a fashion designer yet, and you have several.
Our Victoria Secret has the same thing you mention about the store in Sidney—couches and chairs for tired boyfriends and husbands who’ve been dragged along. I have the same reaction, it always makes me smile.
The designers’ areas look good, especially that one looking out with the floor to ceiling window. You made good use of that Glamour Life paneling (I think its Glamour Life) with the shiny tiling at the bottom. It coordinates well with your glass wall.

That picture of Bella is perfect in the boss’s office—I have never seen it used so appropriately before!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it!

Heh, who barbeques anywhere inside?! I know EA tried to make their EP/SP lots contain things from only the base game or that particular pack but bars are a base game object! And it would have made total sense to put one there!

I have a crazy amount of fashion designers in my hood! I will likely have another in a few years too, as I think one of my teens is a likely candidate. But we'll see. In any case, they have a lot to work at now, which makes me happy.

I'm not sure if that's GL panelling, though it's definitely EA. I don't think I've used it before. I had picked out something completely different for the shop floor - stripey vintage-style wallpaper, which matched the colours of the couches. But then I tried the panelling upstairs and deciding to change the downstairs too. The glass walls co-ordinating with it were a nice bonus - I put those in after the wallpaper. :)

  2. Great work! You are right about there (usually) not being barbeques held at fashion shows - I've been to many, and never seen a grill there, just lots to drink and tiny snacks handed around on silver trays :-)
One of my favourite clothes shops in my home town has a big soft leather couch in front of the changing room, but it's rare to see a man there - most of the time, two ladies come shopping together, and one watches (more or less) approvingly what the other one tries on. The shop assistants serve coffee and other drinks if they see enough spending potential in you :-D

    1. Glad you like it! I've never been to a fashion show myself but a barbeque didn't seem to fit in with the atmosphere, in my mind, lol!

Ooh, that sounds nice! I don't know of any clothing stores around here that serve coffee, apart from the bridal stores. Maybe the designer places do? I wouldn't know as I can't afford to shop there!

  3. I have a sim who has a clothing boutique and this is motivating me to want to try and build or remodel one of the lots. I'm terrible at building in regards to anything so I'm always impressed if anyone can remodel or build new lots without making it just boxes.

    1. Glad I could motivate you a bit! I would love to see your clothing boutique if you get around to remodelling it.

Honestly, I'm not much of a builder myself and only do it when I absolutely can't find what I want elsewhere. The shell of the third storey of this place is literally an exact copy of the floor below. Pretty easy to work with, really!

  4. The sofas are brilliant! My own son has napped in a few of them from time to time, such an old soul. I really like the exterior, and am very excited to see Olivia put it to work. I really want to have a fashion designer, yours are always up to such fun, and a fashion show would be great in your set up. The lights are a nice touch as well, and I like the wall you used in the offices and much of the third floor, I have never even considered that wall before, but it totally works in the space!

    1. I have to admit, I've contemplated a snooze on those couches at the ends of a few long shopping trips, lol!

I'm playing right now and am just about to take Olivia and Ramona down (and maybe Jacinta) and see how it all works! You'll be seeing mainly the office space in the next update but I do want to have a fashion show sometime! It should be a lot of fun. :)

  5. Whew, just caught up with this blog again! I love Vesitit's new look! And I really love those windows! And yes, the boyfriend/husband couches! There's a few stores here that have those too and more often than not it's where you'll find a whole bunch of SOs browsing their phones while waiting!

    1. Nice to see some things remain the same the world over, lol! Glad you like Vestiti! The windows on the lower levels are the EA originals, though the ones on the third storey are the Metro set from MTS. I'm really glad you like the store!

  6. Wow, it looks amazing! I love all the separate floors and the second and the third especially where they can design/make garments and have runway shows, very cool! :)

And tsk tsk at EA putting in barbecues on the runway floor, honestly what were they thinking! lol

    1. Glad you like it. :) Someone theorised recently at N99 that EA intentionally do weird things with their lots, to encourage us to make them over. I didn't think much of the theory at the time but seeing that barbecue, I wondered if they were right after all!
