June 2047 (Winter)
Thomas has had a tough couple of weeks leading up to his 16th birthday.
He had thought things were going pretty well with his girlfriend Jacinta but she (suddenly, according to Thomas) dumped him recently.
She’s going off to uni at the end of the year and doesn’t think it’s a good idea for them to try doing the long-distance thing. She’d rather just go off to uni untethered and see where life takes them both.
Thomas can read between the lines and figures a romantic reunion once he shows up on campus in 2049 is not going to happen.
It’s not like Thomas thought he and Jacinta would end up getting married or anything but he’s still bummed about it.
He really has zero desire to discuss his love life with his mother and fortunately, Sarah knows her son well enough to not ask too many questions.
Thomas would rather just take his mind off things. He’s been playing video games with his sister Catherine.
It was Nick and Sarah’s choice to have five children and they don’t expect the older kids to help out with the younger ones.
But things can get hectic in the Carmody-Moretti household with the kids outnumbering the adults, so it’s very much appreciated when the teens lend a hand!
Thomas’s family tries their best to make his 16th a happy one. All of his gifts are books he’s been wanting.
Books are what Thomas loves most and he spends the afternoon of his birthday holed up in his bedroom, reading all of his new acquisitions.
Ryan is also a bookworm and is keen to borrow the new books once his big brother is done!
He does make some time to share some cake with his family. It’s his favourite kind - Nick tries to fulfill all birthday cake requests for his kids!

Thomas has always been my favourite Nick-Sarah kid. He has such an interesting personality. Can't wait to see how his college years will turn out.
