But I was hit by some inspiration this weekend and finally decided to decorate it.
Tanja did an awesome job recreating the exterior (the original is here) and I changed very little. I just moved the phone outside and changed the wallpaper and some of the tiling. Although, looking at the original wallpaper, I might change it again.
I'll probably look around for some recolours of that staircase. It's exactly the style I want (I've just realised you can't see in any of the photos but it's that big sweeping one from M&G) but the textures are a little bit "country".
The kitchen is mostly sleek and modern but I like the sort of old world tiles I added.
Didn't change this much at all, except the colour of the counters and the wallpaper.
The downstairs dining area, with a grand piano. Those table lamps are on OMSPs, to minimise the possibility of them conflicting with plates. I don't even know if that still happens but I'm paranoid about it, just because I know how lazy I am about fixing community lot problems once I find them!
And the upstairs dining area. One of my favourite features of the old Claudette was being able to look down onto the first floor from the second, so I'm glad Tanja included that in this one too. :)
Hope you enjoyed the tour! The next update is Adrienne and Amar and I'm going to try to get that out in a timely fashion. :)
This looks like a beautiful place. Very classy, inside and out. I love the upstairs dining area, too. How neat that you and Tanja worked together to recreate and decorate this!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get our restaurants pack for TS4. I can only hope that it's even close to as cool as TS2 restaurants were.
I was so happy with the job Tanja did recreating it and finally being able to put my own little spin on the indoors was a lot of fun. :)
DeleteOh, are you getting a restaurants pack for TS4? Hopefully, they don't half-ass it like they did with TS3. :\ I haven't heard anything about it, so I have no clue what's planned.

Great team work! Are the toilets you show here the only ones? I always worry about toilet traffic jams.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! Yes, those are the only toilets - two stalls for the women and a stall and a urinal for the men. Honestly, I don't worry too much about toilet traffic jams. If they happen, I tend to just delete the offending sim or just pick them up and move them out of the way. Or I just make use of a motives cheat and let the NPCs do what they will with the toilets. ;)

I always love to see lot tours! I'm so glad you like it! It looks great! Very classy and stylish :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing yours, makes me realise I forgot to move mine to Linfort, I need to go back and get it!
I'm pleased to hear you like it - thanks again for providing me with such a great canvas to work with. :)
DeleteYou should definitely add this place to Linfort. It would be a shame to build this awesome lot and not enjoy it yourself. :)

Tanja & Carla, it is beautiful! I love the look of it, and that balcony dining is so cool, it would feel private but not like being in a closed off room. The dark panelling is so pretty and I bet it looks gorgeous in the candlelight. I didn't know that trick about the lights and OMSPs, good to know! It's going to be fun seeing your sims dine at the Claudette! The kitchen is also so realistically interesting looking. Do you have a sim in mind to own it or will it be community owned?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments, Shannon! Tanja managed to include all the major features from The Claudette 1.0 in this place, so it almost feels as if I never lost the lot in the first place.
DeleteI took the last three pics after toggling to night, so you can get a sense of what it looks like "by candlelight". Not exactly though, as I have wall lights, table lights and ceiling lights - I like my lots to be well-lit!
Yes, Sophie Gentry (formerly Gottlieb) owns this place now. Adam passed it down to her when he died, as was always the plan. He was glad to have a granddaughter who also had a passion for cooking, as neither of his kids were interested in owning a restaurant!

Looks wonderful! :) Your community lots always make me feel inspired to create my own but alas that is not one of my strong points-building & decorating com lots. lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! Honestly, building community lots is not my strong point either. I do it only under duress, when I literally can't find anything suitable. Generally, I prefer gutting someone else's lot and changing it to suit my purposes. :)

This is wonderful!! I know I commented at N99, but I'm catching up and enjoyed looking at it again. The woods are so soft and elegant here that they really add a great vibe. I like the plants that you used too, the topiary is really a great touch.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! The wooden floors are Tanja's choice - I considered replacing them but there honestly wasn't anything that could have set off the walls any better! I'm looking forward to using this place.

Everything looks wonderful, completely consistent style, lovely details (the table lighting you pointed out), and the open second floor is so eye catching. I don't use that staircase much so never noticed the countrified textures but it doesn't show much in the shot you used. I wouldn't have thought that red front door would work but it sure does!
ReplyDeleteHa, no, that was more of my selective photography! The staircase looks a little more out of place in game. Still workable enough that I'm not desperate to find a replacement, though I'd certainly download one if I found it!
DeleteThe red front door was Tanja's choice and I'm glad it was. It wasn't one I would have chosen either (my tendency is towards matchiness, so I probably would have gone with white) but I'm glad she picked it. I think it really works!
