Space oddity

Round 17: Days 81-85

Narrated by Ottilie Draper

Of all of us, Mum was the one who had the least amount of opportunity to bond with Rose, so she's been taking every opportunity to do that when she has the time.

Let's build a home

Round 16: Days 76-80

Narrated by Ottilie Draper

I think I'm a little bit bigger than the last time you saw me! It feels like I've been pregnant forever and am anxious for this little tyke to just be born already! So's Lake, but not as anxious as I am, I'm sure.

There goes the fear

Unlike my brother Leo, I actually graduated college and have moved in with my boyfriend Lake. Somehow though, we're the ones who've ended up living with my parents, so I'm back in my old bedroom. Leo got a well-paid job in the military immediately but Lake and I have both found it hard to find a job in a suitable field.

Helter skelter

Round 13: Days 61-65
Maybe I should have started my own business instead of going into journalism! Elias has Drusilla as manager now, so he can pretty much set his own hours and sit around in his pyjamas watching TV with Moses all day. As he frequently does. Some Fortune Sim he is!

He does work hard keeping his store in stock though. Drusilla is just as capable as he is at pottery but he's determined to make sure that Elias's Earthenwares is not just a name! On my days off, I go out to the backyard and paint while he makes his pots, just like when we were in college.

Ottilie and Leo are away at college and it's too far away for them to come and visit frequently (or so they say, anyway!) but I still see my sisters Petra and Mina regularly.

Mina is pretty heavily pregnant so she usually had to rush into our bathroom when she arrived, leaving me and Petra to gobble up all the waffles. Yes, we're eating waffles for dinner!

I'm well past my childbearing days and have discovered it's much more fun to watch someone else go through it all now. I can't believe my little sister has a 5 year old at home and is pregnant with her second!

The only parenting I'm doing these days is with our fur-baby, Moses. When we bought Moses, they told us he was a genius. I don't know what kind of a genius would sleep in a dirty rain puddle when there was a nice, dry bed for him inside.

Elias wouldn't let this entry go by without me updating you a bit on his business. Elias's sister-in-law Simona dropped by the other day, looking for some pottery to inspire her students in the new high school's art room.

So it's all going well, though Elias has been having trouble with loiterers lately.

As you might be able to see, there's not really enough space in his store for kicky bag. Elias loves his store but he's starting to wonder if he should have bought a bigger lot.

Back at home, this creepy guy has started to follow me home from work. It's the same guy who I caught in Ottilie's bedroom when she was a little girl, so to say I'm unsettled is an understatement.

He freaks me out a little, so I try to be polite so as not to anger him but he gets upset anyway. You're probably wondering why we don't call the police. We would but the police here don't seem to care about anything except burglary.

Oh, God, how did this picture get in here?!? No wonder I'm putting on weight! Cookies for breakfast? Real healthy, Nathalie!

I'm not crying about my weight gain though - I'm not that vain! No, I had thought my job as a media magnate was fairly secure but I was a little too honest about the art hanging in one of the head honcho's offices and he busted me down to magazine editor. I'm over it now because I know I can work my way up again but I was really beating myself up about it for a while.

Having Elias's support really helped me through it.

Random funny:
Synchronised...art gesturing?!

Notes:
  • Mina drops over autonomously every couple of days, which is cute. I wonder if she'll drop over at Petra's too, because she's always been closer to her.
  • Mohawk Guy comes home so often with Nathalie that he is now BFF with her, without me ever directing them to interact.
  • I swear, I will do everything in my power to never have to play empty nesters again! Staying interested in them is quite a struggle for me!

Smile

Round 13: Days 61-65
Over at the Carmody place, Vivienne was making sure she was on her boss Nathalie's good side. She hoped to have her boss's job one day and she wanted to be first in line to replace her when Nathalie ever retired.

Hopefully, Anna (who was the spitting image of her older sister) would not be as demanding a toddler as Betsy was. If that was the case, sucking up to her boss might be the only way Vivienne could earn a promotion. There certainly wouldn't be much time for skilling.

Chady saves the day

Round 12: Days 56-60
Ottilie and Leo had never showed much interest in dating so they ended up spending most of their time dancing at home. All that time spent dancing did have one advantage - they both earned a dance scholarship to Suffolk University. The $1000 would really come in handy.

Street lites

Round 11: Days 51-55

One family who was not at all bothered by Exeter's makeover was the Drapers. Elias and Nathalie had already been planning to move and purchased a little house not far from the first one they bought right after they graduated college.

After they'd moved all their furniture in exactly as they wanted it, none of them wanted to do anything but relax. Poor Elias was due at work in 3 hours but he planned on taking advantage of his free time until then.

Western homes

Round 10: Days 46-50

Elias is thrilled with how well his business is doing. The shop is at Level 3 now and gets a good mix of regular customers and newcomers every day.

Nathalie is happy for her husband but wishes he was home a little bit more. She really has her hands full with Ottilie and Leo.

They're both lovely, sweet kids, really.

But when they start tormenting each other, Nathalie feels like she could go crazy with all the giggling, squealing and screaming.

It's a pretty small apartment and that compounds the problem. The four of them can't even eat dinner at the same table at the same time. They're living on top of each other.

The night Nathalie finds a strange, mohawked man smustling in her daughter's bedroom is the last straw. They've saved up over $100,000, more than enough for their own house. Nathalie doesn't want to stay at the apartment complex for any longer.

Notes:
  • I didn't realise the Drapers had saved up so much money or that Elias's business was so profitable! I'm going to look around for a nice, affordable, modernish house to put downtown for them and they'll move in next round.
  • Elias is also going to hire a manager for his shop. He'll still need to go down there to check everything is running smoothly but at least it won't be so often.

Just

Round 8: Days 36-40
First up this time, Nathalie and Elias get a visit from Isaac and Petra (that's their house in the background - they live just around the corner).

They were hoping to say hello to Nathalie too but pregnancy is really taking it all out of her. She sleeps all day!

It's not long before Nathalie goes into labour. While Elias is at work, unfortunately, so she does it all alone!

Welcome to the world, Ottilie Draper! She's got Mum's skintone and Dad's black hair.

Well, this is handy! Elias is trying to save money for his pottery store so I take this opportunity to have both him and Nathalie wish for wealth. Next rotation, I'm going to have these guys move house and find a nice little shop for Elias.

Oh, come on!

Luckily, Courtney Edwards is not as crappy as she appeared to be at first.

This was something I'd never seen before. Simona was visiting and I guess she was either booing or laughing at Nathalie's painting (I missed exactly what she was doing so I'm not sure). Nathalie got "React to Dislike" in her queue and headed over to the painting and acted very embarrassed.

Yes, and she's pregnant again. No sooner was Ottilie born than they were trying for a baby again.

I've mentioned before that my cop started out kind of crappy and my landlord is a total asshat but I really lucked out with the nanny. She doesn't have negative relationships with any of my parent Sims, is sweet with all the kids and actually does her job pretty well!

Which is a good thing, because they'll be needing her! Baby #2 is on the way!

It's a boy - meet Leo!

Nathalie and Elias are both sure to lavish attention on Ottilie too, so she doesn't feel too left out.

Notes: It took me forever to think up a title for this post! I think I'm going to start naming them after song titles or lyrics - just whatever I'm listening to at the time. So they'll be fairly random from here on in.
