Shake some action

Round 9: Days 41-45
Last update: Nelson and Gina/Emmy
Next updates: Gina/Emmy

Emmy is the latest resident at Twilight Senior Living Complex.

She's not sure how she'll like it here. She only vaguely knows Gina and has never met Nelson. Amazingly, given how often she drops by on everyone uninvited.

She's on the phone to Pascal here and she looks a little concerned. He's just moved into his first apartment and is all alone. He's the baby of the family.

Emmy's good friend Vincenzo drops by the next day. I made it a point to make Emmy friends with all the influential people in Sullivan (as a Criminal Mastermind) and the Mayor's husband would be pretty influential.

Not sure what Nelson was trying to do here. Nothing romantic because Gina was right there and didn't get upset. Whatever it was, Emmy didn't have a great first impression of Nelson.

She consents to a game of Mahjong anyway.

Meanwhile, at the Clarkes, Nelson rushes outside when he sees Floyd Lane, his daughter Drusilla's live-in boyfriend, pass by. They've never met, so he's not going to give up this opportunity. Weirdly though, considering it's 11:30 in the morning, Floyd tells Nelson it's getting late and he should head home. Right then.

Looks like Nelson's time has run out though and he never will get a chance to interrogate Floyd.

Gina was really upset - much more upset than any other grieving spouse I've seen. She sobbed for ages.

Best friend Noelle feels it's best if she stays a while to make sure Gina is okay and that she eats something. Similar to what I did with Emmy, I tried to make the Clarkes friends with all the Bohemian social group townies.

She's a good friend. Kind of a homewrecker but a good friend.

Finally, a funny:
You'll need to click that to read it (and I just realised I forgot to crop it, so you can see my lovely messy desktop in the background). I'd never seen that memory before and thought it was quite apt for Galen!

Notes:
  • I confess that I skipped through much of this session. I played Emmy for 2 days and then aged her 3. Then I went to the Clarkes, aged them up 2 days and played them for 3. The whole old folks' home thing is not working for me - it's not making them any more interesting. Next rotation, I'll probably move Gina and Emmy in with their Romance Sim sons and they can make nuisances of themselves in their apartments. I'm going to go back to keeping the oldies with their families, as I've done in previous hoods.

Nelson and Gina head for the suburbs

Round 8: Days 36-40
So Nelson and Gina have packed up and headed for the suburbs of Sullivan. They decide to rent an apartment right above Sacha, at Twilight Senior Living Complex.

The move must have given Gina a new lease on life, because for the first time in ages, she gets the want to gain a skill point. She's 2 points away from promotion - she's been a Family Law Attorney for at least two full rotations.

Out in the hallway, Nelson is catching up with his old workmate.

Gina soon joins him and finds she already has a friend at Twilight too.

Gina wasn't sure if she'd like the suburbs much but she loves Twilight. She says her one true hobby is Sports but she's always had a knack for the more artistic pursuits. Twilight just happens to have a fully-equipped art and music room, so she's in her element here.

All the residents love the pool table too. This particular game went on for ages, with Nelson and Gina finally winning. He looks pretty smug about it here.

Sigh. This rotation, Gina got demoted from Family Law Attorney to File Clerk. This was her reaction. Then she earned her way back up a level. Then she got demoted again. She had the same reaction the second time. I don't think Gina will ever "become the Law".

After settling in, Gina invites all the Clarke kids over to see their new place. Xanthia is the first to arrive.

She brings along her husband, Stan. They only met at the wedding, so he doesn't have a very high relationship with either of his in-laws. If he's planning to react to all their attempts at conversation this way, I don't think that will change any time soon.

Drusilla comes for a visit too but doesn't bring Floyd along with her. I can only imagine his attempts at making nice with Drusilla's parents!

Galen came along with his sisters but Gina had to go and chase him down in the hallway to talk to him. He was distracted by the pool table.

This was a bit of a worry. Sacha and Xanthia have a 3 bolt relationship. Xanthia's married but I'm never sure about these crazy family Sims since Sacha.

He's busy with the single ladies of the hood right now anyway.

Oops, too much fried fish! Have you ever seen a Sim look so sad about getting fat?

So it's at this point that I decide to check how much time the old folks have left on the Days Left Shrub. Sacha had one day :(

Anyway, I'm not one for the elixir, so I let it happen. I didn't want to lose his grave like I did with my last Sims to die on an apartment lot, so I had to move him onto my testing lot to die. He died very happy (platinum grave!) so we can't feel too sorry for him.

Edit: I forgot to say that when Sacha died, his life insurance benefited 18 people!!! I think that's the most I've ever had. So he was just as popular as he seemed.

Nelson and Gina get old

The Clarkes were my youngest adults when they moved in but they have now joined the rest of their peers in elder hood. From their balcony, Gina can see the natural foods supermarket (the building with the arch) and further off, the restaurant/coffee shop Orchard.

Galen finally got a Rock God type want and wanted to buy a guitar.

Nelson and Gina have been playing it way more than he has though (I love Nelson as an elder).

Galen is too busy dealing with a raging case of acne to rock out.

What the Clarkes have been up to

Breeding, mostly! I have but two pictures of them, because I was busy getting toddlers trained almost the whole time.

Nelson and Gina Clarke enjoying some lunch on the roof of their first apartment together. I just love the view in this picture. Looks very urban. They didn't live there for long, due to the breeding. It was very small.

The Clarke kids. Drusilla is in the pink, Xanthia is in the orange and Galen is the little boy. Plenty more from them later.

The Clarke Family

next updateThe Clarkes were still homeless when I took this picture. They were on my transition lot (just an empty cheap lot that I use to combine families from the bin, take out loans from Monique's computer and such).

They now live in Sullivan's downtown area, Exeter, where the more arty sort of Sims and others who just don't seem to fit into suburban Sullivan, for whatever reason, live.

Here's Nelson. When I first posted this family at N99, I couldn't remember his name. Even now, I keep wanting to call him Michael or Damian. Anyway, he's Family and he likes Tinkering. I can't remember his LTW, which means it's something I didn't bother to attempt.

And here's Gina. She's Popularity, with the want to become The Law. That doesn't really seem to fit her personality but I imagine her as a lawyer working for disadvantaged Sims in a dingy little office somewhere.

Gina's hardcore, no? Skipping in heels? On grass?
