You say it's your birthday, July 2032

Josie Clarke is 30 and Troy is 29.

I went into labour in the middle of the night and I was pretty impressed with how on the ball Troy was. We got to the hospital in record time, we got checked in and between contractions, he was pretty good.

Troy wasn't quite as useful during contractions. He just kind of stood around, unsure of what to do.

David was great though. I thought I might feel awkward with David delivering, seeing we work so closely together but I found I had a pretty narrow focus.

It all went very smoothly and after several hours, I was holding our newborn son. He's a beautiful little boy. He looks a lot like Troy so far but it's hard to tell when they're so young.

Troy isn't talking about a second kid just yet but I'm expecting him to bring it up any day now. I'd like to wait a couple of years before we have that discussion again!

Going in, we were sure that we'd go with Jared Samuel for a boy. Once he was here, it didn't seem like the right name at all and we went with Jude Samson instead. Jude is just a name we both liked; Samson is after Troy's father.

Notes:
  • I decided to write in my own indecision on Jude's name! I had indeed planned on Jared Samuel but in the end, Jared just didn't seem like a name Josie would use and I decided to go with a more direct tribute to Samson. I was thinking about Jude Woodfolk from Millwood at the time. ;)
  • Jude has dark blue eyes like Troy and brown hair like both his parents. There's a chance future Troy/Josie spawn could end up with red hair. I'm sure most of you long-time readers will realise how exciting this possibility is to me! I still haven't had a red-haired boy born in game (Jack doesn't count, because he was randomly generated).
  • Looking at his simDNA readout, I think Jude might end up looking like Troy. The dominant traits at the bottom are the same as Troy's. I've been working on this theory for a while and so far, it's holding out. Thomas looks a lot like Nick and their dominant traits are identical as well.

  1. Aww a little Jude! How sweet! I LOVE Samson for a name, so I'm pretty geeked over his entire name. Jude is a name I adore, but my last name irl begins with a D, and it sounded like we were saying Jew, instead of Jude. Sad, sad.

I think a boy is the perfect fit for these two, Josie seems like she'd be good with a son, and Troy too, not having a lot of females in his house when he was really young.

Yay for possible red haired boys! I'm already hoping that Oliver has a red haired child someday, he has the recessive, if he goes with a red haired (his favorite type) or a blonde, there's a good chance. Poor Paloma... brown with recessive black... lol But I wouldn't break them up for that. ;)

  2. Maisie, I thought you might like to see a little Jude! Does your Samson love have anything to do with Regina Spektor? I know you're a fan of hers.

Of course, it's completely random as to whether a Sim will have a boy or a girl and had I reloaded, Josie and Troy could have had a girl. But like you, I don't see them with a girl! They seem like they'd have boys to me. When it's time for #2, it'll be interesting to see if they have another boy or if a spanner is thrown in the works and they get a girl. I think Jude is going to be interesting himself though - I said on Twitter yesterday that he is, oddly, NICE! I couldn't believe Josie and Troy could produce a nice child, but there you go!

LOL, I'm sure Paloma is grateful to you that she's still in the running, despite her undesirable genes!

    Thanks for reading. :)

  3. Aww, a boy! I kind of suits them, thought I would like to see them with a daughter as well :)
I like the name, Jude goes really well with Clarke :) and I like that his second name is in honor of Troy's father.

  4. A boy! I can't wait to see his features when he gets older.

I understand the feeling of being excited of having a red-head born in-game. I have about only 3, two of which were twins, but I completely understand and can't wait to have more.

  5. Tanja, heh, maybe next time Troy and Josie will have a girl. I thought Clarke would be a hard surname to match to a first name, like Lane is. But I actually had a whole list of names I liked with the surname and wanted to use.

Kendal will be very happy to see the nod to Samson in Jude's name.

    Thanks for reading. :)

Choco, oh, me either. It'll be interesting to see.

I forget exactly how many redheads I've had born in game in Sullivan but it's under 10 and closer to 5! It's very rare around these parts. ;)

    Thanks for reading. :)

Most definitely :D I'd use it in a heartbeat, just don't have anyone that it really fits for at the moment.

Oh and I did save my lot on vacation, so next time I'll teleport folk in, but not save. duh! Easy solution there. I save people on vacation lots regularly, I never finish a household update in one play session.

  7. Maisie, I read your comment on my way home from work, I was trying to think of Millwood couples who could use Samson! I could only think of Siew and Anderson though and Samson doesn't have much of a ring to it with either of those surnames!

Ah, I thought it might have had something to do with saving! I've had issues saving even residential lots if I've teleported Sims in. But as long as I make sure they're not selectable when I save, it seems to be okay. So I guess I'll just follow the same rule when I do this vacation. :)

  8. A little boy! I love the name Jude and I think Samson is a great name and also a great tribute to Troy's father.

It sounds like Josie might not be totally against another baby, just not anytime soon which is totally understandable.

  9. Sari, Troy and Calvin wouldn't remember their dad at all but they still would have felt that lack as they were growing up. Maybe especially now, that Troy is a father himself.

Josie is not against another child but this isn't going to be a Sarah and Nick thing where they have another immediately after the first! They both want to wait a while.

    Thanks for reading. :)

  10. Aww, so cute. You've been having a lot of boys lately, it seems like your game is trying to keep the gender balance.

  11. Apple Valley, I was thinking the same thing. I think my gender balance for this age group is close to even. It'd be a first. ;)

  12. Yay! I know Josie is excited to be done with pregnancy for now (though the next few stages aren't a breeze either). Welcome Jude Samson! :)

  13. Rachel, yes, poor Josie probably isn't going to get much more sleep now that Jude is here! At least she can share the load a bit more with Troy though.

    Thanks for reading. :)

  14. Aww I really like the name. I'm glad they honored Troy's father. And how exciting that there's a possibility they might have a red haired child! I hope Josie wont' wait too long so we can see if it happens. I see these 2 with a bunch of male children, too, and I'm shocked that Jude turned out nice! Maybe all of Josie's bitching had some kind of positive affect on him lol.

I'm really curious to see what Jude will look like. I think a lighter toned Troy would be cute. I've always liked Calvin with his shaved head, even with his extreme cheekbones.

  15. Danielle, I see Josie and Troy with a bunch of boy-like children as well! Hopefully a redhead next time. I was pretty excited when I saw that gene in Troy's DNA - it comes from his great-grandmother.

LOL, I'm dying to see Troy and Josie cope with this sweet-natured child! I can't believe how nice Jude turned out, without me even re-rolling!

    Thanks for reading. :)
