Lot tour: Malcolm and Hope's new house

Okay, so here is the promised lot tour! I meant to have it up yesterday but got caught up with a few other things before I could get it ready. The house is this one from Mod the Sims.

I didn't change much at all about the exterior - the windows and doors were it, I think.

Overhead views, for those of you who are into that kind of thing. The layout is unchanged from the original house.

I tried to mix Malcolm and Hope's preferred colours with Naomi and Owen's, seeing they're all living together now. Here is their living room, which I had a hell of a time filling - it's huge!

Don't mind any blank or repeated photo frames in this house! They're placeholders.

Dining room, which was also the last room I decorated.

The kitchen, which kind of annoyingly doesn't actually lead directly into the dining room. I am yet to put chairs behind that bench and I probably won't. It'll stop half the family from eating in here and half in the dining room!

This house has room for Naomi's sewing room and still has one spare bedroom left.

This is the nursery for the new baby.

Naomi and Owen's bedroom.

Their adjoining bathroom.

The hallway, which I actually attempted to decorate for once. There's another section which is basically empty except for a rug but the walls are weird there, so I'm not sure if there's much else I could do anyway.

Malcolm and Hope's bedroom is my favourite room of the house.

This bathroom was very hard to take pics of! They do have a shower but you can't see it in either pic!

This is Mason's bedroom.

And this is his bathroom! I've never done a kiddie-style bathroom before but seeing Mason's bedroom had an adjoining bathroom, I thought I'd try it out. :)

  1. Terrific home for an extended family! I love the open balcony overlooking the spacious living room. It annoys me as well when kitchens don't connect to the dining room, but that's a really nice space in the kitchen too for a big family. I would also not put a couple of bar stools at that counter since that's exactly what would happen- the family would not eat together, which just doesn't work with a family like Hope & Malcolm's.

    1. I love the balcony too. I'll have to remember the trick for photographing those rooms properly, so you see upstairs and not the sky. I forgot all about it when doing this tour and ended up just angling it so it didn't matter.

I really wish there was some sort of mod where you could assign the correct eating places! I have plenty of houses where they'll often go serve a plate outside near the barbeque when I want them eating inside. Very annoying!

      Thanks for looking and commenting!

    2. I think the only trick I know for avoiding seeing sky while taking photos of an open room like that, is to put on the roof and use Q in camera mode to lower into the room. It is time-consuming-- is there another trick?

    3. Yes but I would have to be in game to tell you what is for sure! If I remember correctly, you go into Options mode (F5) and then press whatever key puts the roof up. You don't usually have to adjust the camera much at all if you've already framed it, so I find it easier than the trick you mentioned.

  2. Gorgeous! I am impressed with the living room, I noticed that it was huge in the layout pic. It looks very nice as do the rest of the rooms. Mason having a kiddie bathroom is very cute, what a lucky guy he is! His entire bedroom is so vibrant and fun! I really like Malcolm and Hope's bedroom too.

    1. Heh, I always struggle to fill those large rooms! Mason is pretty set for a 2.5 year-old, isn't he? I do really like how both his bedroom and bathroom turned out though. Won't be long before I'll need to upgrade his room to a big boy room! Malcolm and Hope's room is my favourite. :)

  3. It is nice and large, and I am one of those who like to see overhead shots of a house's layout, to give me a better idea of it :-)

    1. Nice and large is definitely what I needed for this family! I usually do overhead shots, after having to edit my tours to add them after requests from people at N99! They're not something I ever feel the need to look at and I scroll past them in most other lot tours, so I never used to think to take them!

  4. I love layout pics too, lol! Especially for sims though. It's important to get a good balance between being aesthetically pleasing but also functional in gameplay, so it's useful to see what works in other houses.

Oooh! That sewing room! (I wish we had sewing back in TS4.) I love the nursery too. And all of the bathrooms. Really great color combinations in this house!

    1. Yeah, I guess so - layout pics have just so rarely been something I've wanted after seeing a lot tour! Although come to think of it, that's probably because I very rarely build!

You guys don't have sewing yet? Crazy. Didn't they do a whole pack with hobbies? Although I don't think they ever added it to TS3 either, so I shouldn't be so surprised.

Glad you like the colours. Combining the preferences of four adults can be a struggle!
