Lot tour: Declan, Xavier and Austin's place

Remember that lot tour I was supposed to put up before Christmas? Um, well, here it is!

It feels like forever since I've played these guys and they have actually been sitting in an undecorated apartment all this time. I was on a bit of a roll with my game before Christmas though and finally went in and finished it.

The guys live in this building, which is another one of Starr's lots. I always think of it as Rob and Patience's place, even though they haven't lived in it since before they got married!

The living room, which is slightly bigger than what you see here. There's nothing near the staircase though, so I didn't bother with a pic!

Kitchen/dining area.

Bathroom. You guys know the drill with me and bathrooms. Yawn. This one has exposed brick though, which I like.

Austin's bedroom.

Xavier's bedroom (empty frame for his grad pic).

Declan's bedroom, which will also have a grad pic one day. In the meantime, he just has some comic book posters up, which I think is very Declan.

Hope to have a story update ready soon!

  1. Starr builds such great buildings, and I love your decorating style- a little sparse compared to a lot of great decorators, very playable, very clean lines. The kitchen in this one is a decent size for an apartment!

    1. I think my decorating style is partly what it is because I don't have much patience for carefully placing lots of clutter around, even though I think it looks amazing when other people do it! In this place, it makes sense anyway, because Xavier and Declan are both very tidy...but Austin's room should be a bit messier, I think!

Yeah, it's not a bad little kitchen, is it? This was the building where Susannah and Daniel used to live, so I've just realised I probably totally misremembered what their kitchen was like, lol! Their new one is still bigger but I don't think the old one was especially small.

  2. Looks like a cool, modern place for three cool, modern guys :-)
So there are 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen/dining area and the living room in this house, which is one of four in a row? Did I get this right? It is a lot bigger inside than what it looks like from the outside!

    1. There are actually three bedrooms, kitchen/dining, living room and two bathrooms in this place, so it's even bigger than you're imagining. The second bathroom is basically identical to the first, so I didn't bother taking a pic. Starr is very good at making the most of small spaces - her lots are usually surprisingly spacious instead, given they are always on smaller lot sizes.

  3. I think of Rob and Patience when I see that lot as well. They boys have really made it home though, all their bedrooms showcase their personalities nicely. I like the cluttered pictures in their living room, that's a great recolor that fits a bachelor pad. :D

    1. Funny that you remember this place the same way! Rob and Patience did live there a while - right up until Felicity was a toddler, if I'm not mistaken.

I think that picture in the living room comes with the pizzeria set from ATS. Most of the images in it are quite masculine. I'm always drawn to more feminine looking images and then find myself wanting when I'm trying to decorate for guys, especially when I want something other than posters!

  4. Wow, how did you get three bedrooms in there?! I totally wouldn't guess there was that much space inside, lol!

The comic posters are a neat touch for Declan! I wouldn't have thought of framed comics, but I can imagine some of my sims would like that too. I totally need to go hunting around for some more masculine wall decor for my guys. I'm also drawn to feminine stuff, and then find my content lacking when I have to decorate for the guys.

    1. Ha, you'd have to ask Starr about that! I left the layout exactly as she designed it and it was perfect for these three.

I can't remember if I've ever had a chance to use those comic posters before but they were perfect for Declan's room. A bit more grown-up than posters but still very relevant to his comic book/sci-fi/horror interests. I actually want to make some more masculine wall deco but that won't help you, unfortunately!

  5. I love how you decorated their place. I never seem to get my males places decorated "manly" enough, lol.

    1. That's hard for me too. I think so many of the fussier sort of decor things that make a place look interesting are inherently feminine (stereotypically, anyway) and it can be hard to break away from that when decorating for guys. Glad you think I did a good job here though!

  7. Looks neato! ;) Big fan of the kitchen and loving the colour scheme in the bedrooms, particularly Xavier's room.

    1. Glad you like it! I don't use that shade of green too often but it works for Xavier, somehow. :)
