I'm loving this! Definitely going to read this with more thought and start adding dna-strips to my sims. At least it's a good thing keeping you away from simming though. :)

Congratulations on the baby, by the way! I hadn't realised I hadn't done the strings for so many sims, so I finished them all off and fixed a few that didn't look right. :) I'm a nerd and enjoy doing these sorts of things. ;)

I have been aware of Simmerville for a long time but never really followed the site faithfully. By the time I found it (mid-TS2), there was so much content that it seemed a bit overwhelming! I haven't checked the site in a long time but Simmerville is very active on The Sims Daily and has a great thread in the pictures section where he/she details his/her current world. It's pretty fun!

Thanks for reading and commenting!Carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09140819019098738245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3968444616198803470.post-29148185605264423932013-11-20T17:13:49.034+11:002013-11-20T17:13:49.034+11:00Wow Carla, this is great! I've spend the entire saturday adding dna-strings to sims' profiles :) It adds some more depth to my sims.

I've always loved Simmerville, I started following his/her site back in ts1-days, and loved it even more when it became a ts2-site!
I didn't know he/she was still active, there hasn't been movement on his/her site in years, even though they switched to ts3.

But again I love this! But I've been using these for so long and it would be incredibly tedious for me to go around and change the skintones of all my sims who are using the in between tones. :\ So freckle masks will have to do. What would be ideal for me is if someone would create a freckle overlay box, similar to what has been done with body hair. That would enable several different levels of freckliness and (my favourite part) all over body freckles. And it would take up less space in a Downloads folder than skin tones, which are HUGE! But no one seems to have done it, so it's a pipe dream! :)

Glasses I used to do the same way as you but I think I'm happier assigning them genetically. More realistic and I do like to try for realism (when it's convenient for me, lol)!

Thanks for reading and commenting!Carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09140819019098738245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3968444616198803470.post-25487668193193018672013-11-17T08:09:25.019+11:002013-11-17T08:09:25.019+11:00It's a good little system, isn't it? I primarily use Jessi's skins in my game and I took the time to change the genetic value of the Wearing Diamonds (?) freckle skins, so they can blend properly with the default replacement and geneticized skins. So now, my sims can be born with a freckled skin at any moment and even pass it down if it's dominant enough. Courtney Underwood (first daughter of Jeff and Britney) was the first to be born with a freckle skintone. Now I'm still prone to use Jessi's makeup freckles, especially if the sims is fair-skinned and/or a redhead.

I don't have a particular system for glasses. Usually I'll add them if their personality calls for it.LaurelCrossinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12234825401317518055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3968444616198803470.post-58888328858596144772013-11-16T23:37:16.256+11:002013-11-16T23:37:16.256+11:00This is really nifty--it definitely makes me want ...This is really nifty--it definitely makes me want to work out something similar for my Sims as they have more children...... :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
