You say it's your birthday, May 2037

Round 33: May 2037 (Autumn)

Narrated by Ethan Novak

Maia is always much more composed than I am when we get to the hospital. I was quite frantic trying to get her checked in quickly and Maia just didn’t seem worried at all.

Maia told me I wasn’t too helpful when she had Willow so I’d made up my mind to try to stay calmer this time.

I think I did better than I did with Willow but I was still glad I wasn’t running the whole show.

Dr Moretti is great and I was happy to just do whatever she told me to do.

The birth went very smoothly and Willow now has a little brother, who we’ve named River Graham.

River has brown hair, just like me and his sister, but pale grey eyes which come from my mother.

Notes:
  • I had to take pictures of Cara only from the back because despite my best efforts with facial overlays, she would not stop grinning like a loon! And one disadvantage of using the labour animations is that you can't really wait for the Sims to fall into their overlay expression, like you normally can. Otherwise, you end up missing the entire birth and you'd have to leave the lot without saving and start over. I guess I could freeze the labour with Freezer Clock but I don't know if that's a good idea. Anyone tried it?
  • River has brown hair, which is a bit lame of him, seeing Maia and Ethan have the chance of giving me both blonde and redheaded babies. I'll forgive him if he's as adorable as Willow is. ;)

  2. Yay a boy! And River is too cute of a name. And yes you can freeze those laborig ladies all you want. I freeze time, labor, and giggle to myself as I move things around for the photos. So funny that Cara was grinning like crazy! Woulda been funny for an outtake.

    1. I'm glad Maia had a boy - I was hoping she would, so he could buddy up with Peter. :) River is a perfect name for Maia and Ethan but I'm sure James will hate it, lol.

And awesome, I will definitely be freezing Matilda all to hell when I do her birth update in August! Thanks for that tip - it's going to make things so much easier for me.

      Thanks for reading!

  3. Aww I always love your hospital shots and how adorable that they had a little boy! I think I remember you saying they would probably only have 2 so its nice that they got one of each (correct me if i'm wrong BTW). I'm sure he'll be a stunner like his big sister

    1. Glad you enjoy the hospital shots!

As for how many kids Maia and Ethan will have, I'm not sure. Maia is 35, so her fertility is declining, so this could be it for them. Then again, both Maia and Ethan's Ideal Family Size is 3 and they're not allowed to use BC, so they may try again and be successful. I've had older women than Maia get pregnant, so you never know!

      Thanks for reading!

ROFL Yeah, Carla, blame the baby! Poor thing. But I know what you mean. Ha! I am finally caught back up with your blog. Go me! I thought they would have another girl, but a son is good too!

    1. True, I was a bit harsh on young River! I should really be blaming his useless father, for contributing his boring brown hair gene, lol! I don't know why but I was both expecting and hoping for a boy this time.

      And yay, you caught up!

      Thanks for reading!

  5. I love that name! Hope he lives up to such an awesome name! I hate when my sims facial expressions don't line up with the shot. What's so funny about having an argument?! Can't wait to see the little guy age up!

    1. I hope he does too. I'm sure he'll be cute, if his big sister is anything to go by!

Ugh, I know. There have been quite a few times (before now) when I've just swung the camera around rather than try to force the facial overlay for the billionth time, lol!

      Thanks for reading!

  6. I really wasn't hoping for a specific gender for these 2, but as soon as I read they had a boy, I thought it fitted them so well!
I'm sure Willow will be a great big sister :)

I like those names, Willow and River, together!

    1. When Maia first got pregnant, I didn't care what she had but once Lia had her boy, I wanted Maia to have one too. ;)

Fortunately, Willow is already well-versed in the ways of sharing, due to all her play dates, so hopefully a little brother won't be too much of a shock to her system.

      Thanks for reading!

  7. I thought they would have another girl but I love the name River. lol @ the "lameness" of River being a brunette. Don't feel bad though. I think may have blamed the baby once or twice myself.

    1. River's not a name I'd use in real life but it seems perfect for Maia and Ethan. Heh, I don't feel too bad about calling River lame, but the blame really should fall to Ethan; Maia can only contribute blonde genes but Ethan just refuses to throw in his red hair gene. ;)

      Thanks for reading!

  8. Aww, River is a great name for Maia and Ethan's little boy. He should be interesting to watch as she grows. :)

    1. It does seems to fit them well. I've been saving the name River since Willow was born; it would have been her name, if she came out with different bits. ;)

  9. Aww, Cara just loves the babies and couldn't stop smiling I guess :). Welcome little River! Willow and River, so cute! I hope he is as adorable as his big sister is.

I can't wait til my sims start pumping out the babies because I want to try out the residential hospital. The labor animations look really good lying on their backs. And good to know we can use the freezer clock.

    1. Good thing I made Cara the OB-GYN, seeing she loves babies so much then! I guess she sees a fair few of them. ;)

I would be keen to get going with more babies if I was you too! The only reason my Sims started having babies so early on is because I was going through five years at a time at the beginning and playing much faster than I do now. I will definitely be trying out that freezer clock on the labour next time. Which will actually be today, I just realised!

      Thanks for reading!

    1. Ha, it looks quite painful, doesn't it? But hey, those are the EA animations putting them through so much agony, lol!
